Little Artist Party

So most recently I threw my four year old an artist party!  It was absolutely fantastic!  All of the kids had a ton of fun, which I was grateful for because boy were there a lot of kids there to impress, most importantly my daughters school friends (she is in Pre-K3).  I heard multiple kids yell "Best Birthday Ever!" as they were leaving!

That made my heart smile!

So I thought i'd share my pinterest inspired craftiness with you!

First things first - the invitations!!

I made these out of tan cardstock, I used some tools I have to cut it into an oval shape (artist pallet shape) I then cut two smaller oval holes to imitate an artist painting pallet, using some creative memory cutting tools that I own! :)
Then I took some crafty glitter glue and made - the best I could- little spots of paint :)

The invite reads; Lets put the ART in PARTY
All the rest is pretty generic; time, date, place, rsvp; and don't forget to include
"Wear your art clothes"

Now I wish I would have gotten better photos!! lol

I got these awesome painters aprons from Oriental Trading Company online for a great cost - I think it was like  $10 for 12! Can't beat that!

I got these chalkboard easels from Michales, I set up three stations;
1. Sculpting -- with playdoh and accessories
2. Crafting -- drawing, cutting, glueing, coloring, etc.
3. Painting -- obviously.  ;-)

The kids had so much fun!  On one of the easels I wrote "Every Child is an Artist"

I created a banner of some of my daughters 'masterpieces' :)

Hard at work!  I got these easels in a pack, they came with acrilic paint, easels, and canvases with different characters / drawings on them for the kids to paint!  They seriously had a blast guys!

Onto the cupcakes!  Yes.  The best (and worst, food coloring - bah!) part of birthday parties!
I made these little fondant artist pallets, they were super simple, but a but time consuming!

Since I got lazy, I mean I wanted to give people options, I iced half of the cupcakes with a whole lot of colorful icing!!

My birthday girl! <3

THIS!  Was the best!  It's like a kids version of a guest book!  In the frame I wrote "Hey, please take a moment to help make a work of art Avalina will treasure forever!  Share a birthday wish, a handprint, or just say 'hi!'"  It was so much fun and I hang the finished masterpiece in her playroom for her enjoyment! <3

Thank you SO much for stopping by!  You are awesome, have a super day!!

Until next time,
  Kim!

Vegan Chocolate Chip Cookies

Vegan Chocolate Chip Cookies

I probably shouldn’t have made these today – Since it was only yesterday when I made vegan chocolate cupcakes …. And ate them… all.

My diet starts … oh who am I kidding.

what’s a day without dessert?

This recipe is so good!  It’s not even really my own I got it from here at the VeganHousewives.  I just decreased the sugar a bit, that’s all – it really is a fantastical recipe.

I don’t usually share other peoples’ recipes, this is actually the first and only time I have, but I would be doing you an injustice if I didn’t share!

So Here We Go.  What You Need:

2 cups flour
1 tea baking powder
½ cup coconut oil
¾ c brown sugar
¼ cup almond milk
2 tea vanilla extract
3/4 cup vegan chocolate chips (I could have been okay with ½ cup really…)
And I added ¼ cup walnuts, just because I had them - and I love walnuts.

The Fun Part:

Mix wet ingredients
Add dry ingredients
Add chocolate chips, and walnuts if you wish.

Form into balls – however big or small you like

Cook 350 for 10-13 minutes, depending on how big your balls are (hehe)

Let cool and

Enjoyyyyy

Almond Anise Biscotti

Almond Anise Biscotti

Since today is fathers day I decided to make my father a treat – homemade biscotti.

My father LOVES biscotti – and I forgot just how much I loved them when I ate one today!  I think the last time I had one was when I lived at home with him.

He doesn’t even drink coffee anymore- I think he quit before I was old enough to notice, but to this day when I am traveling and wake up to the smell of coffee it feels like home to me…

Anyway- he just eats them alone, which is the same way I enjoy them!

My husband, however, took one tooth to it this morning and thought it was a joke.  That I am gifting stale bread to my father… silly boy.

This evening though- he ate one… and then asked for two more!  Aaaha.  Told him they were good!

So Here We Go.  What You Need:

2 lemons grated lemon rind (about 1-2 tbl)
2/3 cup slivered almonds (one small bag)
¾ cup sugar
2 eggs
2 cups flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 egg white – beaten.

The Fun Part:

Combine first 4 ingredients – beat.
Add dry ingredients—flour and baking powder.
Kind of kneed the dough with your hands – inside the bowl to minimize mess.
Form into two oval-ish loafs – flattened – on a greased cookie sheet
Coat with beatened egg white

Cook at 350 for 25 minutes
Lower temp to 325 for 5 minutes
Slice
Place slices back into oven at 325 for 15 minutes.

Let cool – coat with chocolate if you wish – or not…

Enjoy!

Tofurky Wrap

Tofurky Wrap

Have you ever tried tofurky deli meat?  I had my qualms… but then I tried it.

Maybe it was my low expectations for it, but I tasted it and literally said “wow! This is awesome!”

And it really is kids.

Here is one of my favorite wraps I have made for years, and it was easy to make it vegan… salvation…!

What You Need:

1 spinach wrap
1 tbl veganaise
1 tea taco seasoning
3 slices tofurky (I like hickory smoked)
1 slice vegan cheese
Shredded lettuce (as you can tell from the photo, I love lettuce)
Pepper

The Fun Part:

Take yo wrap
Dab on the veganaise
Sprinkle on that taco seasoning like it’s your job
Slap that turkey on that mess
Add the cheese
Load on the shreaded lettuce (or not)
And sprinkle with pepper
Roll up and…

Enjoy!
